Let’s Build for Paul – Can you help?

Please help us to fund downstairs accommodation to allow a dear husband, son and brother live his life with dignity and ease.

Paul has been significantly ill for the last 14 yrs. Despite two failed kidney transplants with no further transplant to be offered, repeated episodes of pancreatitis, sepsis and the complications which go alongside these chronic illnesses, he has ‘defied medicine’ in his continuous, determined fight to survive and enjoy life with his family to his best potential.

Two years ago Paul had his first below knee amputation and in April this year underwent a further lifesaving surgery to amputate his remaining leg. Although largely wheelchair-bound, Paul is determined to learn to walk again in the future on 2 prosthetic limbs.

Since his first amputation Paul has slept downstairs in the living room of his home. He has been unable to access showering facilities and has had to wash in a small downstairs toilet.

It is our wish that Paul has access to the privacy, dignity and human rights shared by his able bodied counterparts.

Our family is not eligible to meet the limited grant aid offered, despite lobbying for 2 years with our local MP. As a consequence we are driven to achieve the downstairs accommodation that Paul so desperately needs.

We have worked hard to raise some of the capital among family but our resources are now maximised.

Throughout his illnesses Paul has actively raised significant and valuable funds for Northern Ireland Kidney Research and for the Northern Ireland Kidney Patients Association.

Now we appeal to you for help at a time when he himself needs it most. Each appreciated donation will help us to give Paul the quality of life he deserves. It is our wish that any remaining funds raised on completion of the work are donated to these 2 charities which are close to our heart.

Sincere thanks, in anticipation
