I joined NIKPA in January 2017 following my transplant in the summer of 2016.

Staff at the Belfast City Hospital Renal Unit had been ‘looking after me’ for over 30 years as my kidney function gradually declined, the result of Polycystic kidney disease.

My donor’s kidney has been doing a marvellous job since then. Every day is a bonus and I’m grateful that in their time of distress my donor’s family agreed that her organs be used to help others.

I liked the idea of volunteering along side other local renal patients and their family members to offer practical assistance to patients throughout Northern Ireland.
